Adamantane Scaffold

Bromantane (N-(2-aminoethyl)-2-bromoadamantane-2-amine) is a synthetic adamantane derivative. In published research, Bromantane was characterized as an actoprotector with effects on the dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter systems in rodent models (Morozov et al, 2000, PMID 10812267).

A subsequent study reported that Bromantane increased the activity of the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase (the rate-limiting enzyme in dopamine biosynthesis) in rat striatum (Kapitsa et al, 2007, PMID 17375302). Bromantane carries a brominated adamantane scaffold and is structurally distinct from monoamine-releasing agents. For research purposes only.
