NAD⁺ Metabolism Research

5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small-molecule quinolinium studied in published research as an inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that methylates nicotinamide and sits at the intersection of NAD⁺ metabolism and cellular methylation (Sun et al, 2024, PMID 38919254).

In foundational work on the target, genetic knockdown of NNMT was reported to alter metabolic phenotypes in a rodent model of diet-induced obesity (Kraus et al, 2014, PMID 24717514). 5-Amino-1MQ is studied as a pharmacological probe of the NNMT pathway. For research purposes only.
